What does IT look like at Ascot Lloyd?

Our IT function is a fast‑moving, collaborative environment focused on delivering secure, scalable, and high‑performing technology solutions. As a Cloud Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, maintaining, and optimising our Azure and Microsoft 365 cloud environment to support the organisation’s continued growth and digital evolution.

Your impact on stakeholders

  • Ensure the stability, performance, and scalability of the organisation’s Azure/M365 cloud services.
  • Provide expert technical support for escalations from the Service Desk.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of cloud technologies across the business.
  • Support acquisitions and onboarding by delivering cloud‑based technical solutions and guidance.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of our cloud environment, staying ahead of evolving technologies and industry best practice.

What you’ll bring to the position

  • A proactive approach to maintaining BAU services, including patching, monitoring, and system optimisation.
  • Ability to manage workloads using fundamental project lifecycle frameworks (Design, Build, Test, Deploy).
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to resolve complex cloud infrastructure issues.
  • Excellent documentation capability to support designs, configurations, and operational processes.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure services including VMs, storage, networking, and security.
  • Experience managing Azure networking technologies (vNets, SD‑WAN, ZTNA).
  • Expertise in Microsoft 365 administration including Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive.
  • Experience designing and implementing Azure‑based infrastructure solutions.
  • Strong understanding of cloud monitoring and logging tools (Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights).
  • Experience in performance tuning and resource optimisation within cloud environments.

Soft Skills

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage shifting priorities.
  • High level of attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Proactive, solution‑driven mindset with a desire for continuous improvement.

Experience

  • 3–5 years’ experience in system administration with a focus on Azure/M365.
  • Experience supporting cloud infrastructure in a multi‑site or enterprise environment.
  • Project management experience (supporting or leading small technical projects).
  • Financial services experience (desirable).

Qualifications and Certifications

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals and/or Azure Administrator Associate.
  • Microsoft 365 Fundamentals (or equivalent).
  • Networking qualifications (desirable).
